Meanwhile in Hollingbourne...

(just out of view) Father William O'Flaherty is riding a camel around his kitchen, playing an improvised game of Polo using a frozen duch and a long handled mop.

If you listen carefully, you can hear the soft padding of the camel's feet.

Bonus - The Guardian is beyond parody.  The decline of B&Q is a hammer blow for lesbians.

You Need Wheels...

...to attract The Ladies.

A marvelous slide, apparently dating to July 1979, tho' I would just have happily believed 1969.  Incidentally, the vehicle in question may well be the model that the rapper Flo Rida is names after.

Otter Rock

Otter Rock is one of the most famous landmarks in Cricklewood. Situated in Rutherford Park, next to the yachting pond, it's a granite erratic dating back to the middle Mesolithic era.

It gets its name from its resemblance to a the Cricklewood Otter (Musatoid Crickleii) which was hunted to excinction in the late 13th Century.

Kreepy Kid

As I've said several times in the past, sometimes it's the not-quite-perfect slides which are the best.

People often criticise the Seventies as the decade that taste ignored.

I beg to differ.  The sixties were clearly as bad.

Kev The Runaway

At age 15, Kevin "Kev" Bozo ran away from the circus (where his head clown) and joined a respectable firm of commercial accountants.  From there, he was drawn into a murky world of audits, buyouts and luncheons.
Years later, appearing on BBC Business Daily, even his family would not recognize him.

Name That Mega-City

This is one of those anorak moments.

I get this slide, scan it and realise that there's no information about the subject.   Oh Good.

That mural in  the middle of the shot looks quite folk arty. And Middle American, so somewhere around Mexico of northern South America.

Looking closer, the buses have text - something like Coyoacan.   A bit of Google, and Yes. It's Mexico.

However, digging deeper, I tried mural coyoacan in Google images and ....Wow !

Casey Jones, Jr

Heavens. It's amazing the memories that a slide can trigger.

In this case, it immediately fired off a neuron marked "Casey Jones", a tv series I recall from the early 1970s. It appears it actually dates from the late fifties.  Gulp.

Altho it was a TV series, it was (loosely) based upon the real life exploits of Casey Jones.

The Military Merry-Go-Round

I could write lots about the merry-go-round of arms industry and perma-fear used to justiofy oppression of the masses.

Or I could wax lyrical about times past, when children and weapons were a common partnership.

Instead... What a lice picture.

Bonus - Excellent source of dogger figures for your train set.

Finally, a slide with some context. "Charly Dean - Broad View Oct 1950" and a box marked as "Camp - Koosharem, Utah".

From the rest of the slide, it appears that a bunch of middle aged guys spend an autumn weekend hunting and butchering deer.
